Auna looked down at her feet with wide eyes. Whatever was there was gone now. Just gone. She felt completely okay, besides feeling like a total moron. She was relishing the moment the thing...'shadow' as that man put it and sighed happily. She ran a hand through her hair and looked up and was about to start walking again when a almost complete lookalike of the man back there stepped out of the shadow of that tree. Auna's breath caught and she stared. This one looked much nicer and...younger than the man in black.
He spoke, their voices were the same, but his had more...sincerity in it. "I--I..." She stammered. Still shocked at him showing up. She couldn't think of anything not stupid to say so she just nodded. " I suppose." She said hastily as the thought came into her terrible confused mind.

He smiled wincing as he reached up to mess with his eye. He drew back remembering the fat that he had been hit earlier there before continuing. “I do hope that I haven’t startled you but you were the closest person at the given time. Of course I see that you have your own problems at this current time so I won’t trouble you with the full blown perspective of mine as of yet.” he said looking around. “If I had time I would tell you more but time is something I do not have. Although there is something....” he said holding out his hand. The shadows swirled around it desperately trying to keep the object in his hand. It was a ring attached to a silver chain. “The other me probaly won’t help much, but I’ll try to help anyway I can.” |

"Wh---what?" Auna asked confused. It seemed he hadn't told her anything yet. She looked at the ring on the chain he withdrew. "I'm sorry, but I am having a lot of trouble with this. Who are you? What is that? Who is that back there?" She asked at once. And she realized how much of a genius she sounded like, babbling like she was still a teenager. She let out a breath.
"Are you saying you want to help me? Or that you need help?" She asked, might as well figure that out first. And she still didn't know whether to get the ring from him or not. She couldn't tell if he was offering it or just showing it to her.

“Who I am is not important and this is a ring and that back there is me.” he said calmly as if he had been expecting all this.
“Your problem is more serious then mine. Yes I want to help you and I do want you to return the favor. I shall tell you one thing however. He and I are one being. I do believe....he would be my Hyde if I am not mistake by your worlds peculiar...wait, what am I saying? Here look, take the ring please, I’m begging you. Time is of the essence, please you just have to trust me.” he said as he began to flicker turning back into a normal shadow again.
“Please!” he cried as he began to disappear.

"Oh..." Auna muttered, like that make all the sense in the world. But truth be told it wasn't as unusual as she thought it was. She jerked slightly at his urgency and reached and took the ring. "What exactly is so...." She trailed off, she didn't really understand what was going on. It was really weird.
"How will you help me?" Auna decided to ask it that way. She curled her fingers around the ring, the chain hung out through her fingers.

“That is a terrible question to ask considering I’m making it up as I go along. I am going to assume that we have a deal yes?” he said sticking out his hand hoping that she shook it.
“I’m just creating one too many questions with my answers now aren’t I? I suppose I should have expected that due to my current situ...” he stopped realizing what he was doing again as he began to flicker as the smoke rose up from his skin.
“We’re going to have to finish this conversation later, for now my time is up.” he said as he faded into a cloud engulfing the ring and vanishing.

"Well, yes. We have a deal." Auna said hastily, she reached out to shake his hand, but he was smoking, so she drew her hand back slightly and then he just vanished, the ring going too. "Uh....." Auna mummbled just staring at the spot where he left. She felt like screaming off a round of profanities, but that wouldn't solve anything.

"So!" Jun clapped her hands together loudly. "Are we gonna search for the stones, or just stand here looking at butterflies all day?" She smiled as one went right past her ear. Then, her ADD kicking in, she turned and watched it fly away. Then, shaking herself, she looked back at the rest of the group.

"Nothing!" Noodles announced, slightly annoyed and totally oblivious, "Nothing underground near me!" She stood up and stretched. "This is a great new experience for me! I'll be using that skill eventually!" She thought.

~Dang it I have got to learn how to be more stable.~ Although it had worked out in the end. Within his last moments of stability he had slipped the chain around her neck before being trapped within the red gem. He would talk to her again once he was sure they were alone but for now because that man was near this would have to do.
Darius wound in and out of the trees heading back to the cabin. Maybe the reflection had retreated back to the safety of the mirror. It would be typical for him to do so, after all the reflection was a coward, but something didn’t seem right about it.
He stopped turning back twoards the group scratching his head. He watched the shadows carefully counting them the best he could. It didn’t appear that any of them had a second shadow, but something was still up. Where had his shadow run off to?

Auna watched him leave and raised and eyebrow as he came back," Conflicted? Or was there a bug?" Auna asked with a small sneer," Are you still just as concerned as you were before, or have you changed your mind about helping us?"

"Oh now your just aborable now aren't you?" he said saractically rolling his eyes before staring at her. "And no I haven't changed my mind bu one more comment along the lnes of the one you just stated and I just might." he said inspecting everyone's shadows.
He didn't appear to be anywhere near here. Darius had never seen move this fast before. That had to mean two things. One the idiot would be running out od power soon and two that meant that he would have total control over this body soon enough.
