The Story of Icefire
There was a rustling in the bushes right outside the battlefield. An odd creature poked his head out, and glanced around. They were loosing the battle, that he could tell. He would have to send for the recruits, and fast, or the people of Darkness were doomed. On the vast plain, he could see all four elements, clashing together. Earth sideing with fire, and Air sideing with water. As he stuck his head back into the concealment of the underbrush, he realized it was too late. An enemy; one of the Light people had spotted him. The Air elf, as it was, ran up with the wind pushing at her back. The creature tried to flee, but a long dagger hit his back before he could even begin to flap his wings to help accellerate him. He sighed one last final sigh as he fell to the ground, and as the cold grasp of death lay it's hands upon him, he murmered these last words to the elf," This is not over. You may have won against me, but not forever. I will be back, and I will seek you out, and kill you. Light will never defeat us, no matter what the cost..." Then, his eyes went cloudy and he lay still in the bush, with the elf staring down with a victorious grin. "That may be right, you foul creature, but not this time! And most likly, NOT EVER!" she laughed, as she kicked him into the dirt. For even light beings can be evil. And thus, it started. The begining, though seeminly the end.
A creature much like the one before woke up in a clearing with golden grass and a large milky fiery-rock-like-lava-but-solid rock wall around the small place in the woods. Somehow, she knew much about the place she was in, and yet not much about herself. "Hey! I dont even know my name yet, but I know the name of the one before me! How silly!" She giggled. "Yes, now, what was it...? Oh yes, I know! Dorilown, the great Draghuma, like me! Um, ok whats mine..." She exclaimed as she rolled up her sleeve to see the birthmark in tiny letters that was there. "OH! What a nice name! It suits me well! Icefire!" She said staring at her reflection in the wall as she walked up to it.
"Ok, thats enough of this silliness. I need to go back out to that battlefield, and help those Darkness beings! And kill that idiot air elf that killed me last time. UHHHHHHHH Its soooo annoying when my other life promised to kill that stupid, worthless, idiot elf! Oh well, i guess she couldnt be that bad, after all she is just fighting for what she thinks is right, and for her kind. Wait,... WHAT exactly are we fighting for?" she said entierly to herself. Draghumas have an interesting story, and a long one too. Its sort of hard to explain, but ill try. Draghumas are immortal, except they can be killed. When they die, they die a fifteen second death, to take in the surroundings, or to say some last words. These last fifteen seconds are what the next draghuma remembers. And so when the next draghuma awakens, they appear to be 10 years old, or that of a preteen. So if they say that they are two years old, they look like they are 12, and have the knowledge of a twelve-year old. They also have part of the life of the draghumas before them, and also the ones after them, so they sometimes refer to the life of the draghuma before them as their previous life. They awaken in a small clearing with a stone wall that is see-through on the inside, but jet black on the outside so no one can see in. In the middle, there is a litle medallion, and a knew one appears at the same time and place the draghuma appears. The draghuma lays on it's back, hands on chest and feet together, like at funerals, except it is not dead, but it is only just awakening. The medallion is held in the right hand, but is transferred to around the neck when the draghuma gets up. There are some weapons, a different combination each time, over in the left side of the clearing. The sheaths are also there, though sometimes thry are not used. If they are not used, it is forbidden to take them out of the clearing. And about the clearing, no other being knows where it is. Only the draghumas do. There are two draghumas at each time, a Darkness and a light. They are on exact different parts of the world, but the clearing is right in between the boundaries. Thats about all there is to it, except the fact that each draghuma has no clue there is another one, and will not believe it until it sees it. In this case, the draghuma is a fire draghuma, therefore going into the Darkness catagory. And thats how it all got started.
Icefire yawned as she walked around in the woods of the southernmost part of Polsor, in the
Woods of Wisdom. She had just left the clearing, and was tired and hungry. Mainly tired from her lack of food, so she was alittle weak, but she wouldnt let that stop her. She found a nice large live oak, with low branches and a nest-like place in the middle. She climbed up, part flying, and found that in the nest-place there was a small burned out hole. It looked like a draghuma had been here before and used it for the same reasons. The she looked around at the forest floor, and saw something that made her mouth water. There was a deer.... feeding on a patch of sunflowers, right under an apple tree! What luck! she thought, Sunflower seeds, sunflower flowers, which do taste nice, I think... anyway a DEER! And even some apples. She readied up her magic, and blasted a fire ball right at the deer. It fell to the ground, and Icefire flew over to pick it up with her powerful talons on her feet. She dropped it off at the 'nest' and flew back to pick a few sunflowers and apples. When she got back, she noticed the hole was large enough for her to sleep, and for her to build a fire. She gathered up a few sticks from the ground, and built a small fire near the edge of the large hole. She roasted the deer meat, and the sunflowers along with it. She ate an apple while she was waiting, and then she decided she might need a bag. She cleaned the deer skin, and then used the stiff sunflower stems to sew a bag out of it. She knew the stems wouldnt last long, so she stitched the rest together with firethread. Firethead is a substance that can only be made by fire beings. It is like normal piece of yarn, but it is just thinner, and will never tear. It is hot when it is first made, but then it cools down later. It is also more flexible and easier to manage then regular thread or yarn. It can also be made into a fabric that is very warm and used in winter. A shirt made from it is lighter than a feather, so it has nearly no weight. Some make it for a living, and others just use it when they have to, but in moments like Icefire's it is very useful. She tore the sunflower stem out, and then noticed that the food was ready. She ate the meat gratefully, and decided to leave the seeds for attracting birds. She petals she used to season the meat, and it was very delicious. After she finished, she was stuffed. She had more meat left, so she found some large leaves on a tree near by, and wrapped the meat inside of them for storage. She put that and the remaining apples in a side pocket, that she would use for food, and decided that she had better use everything she had here. she cut the small antlers into spear heads, and used the bones for arrows. She had Little skin left, and she used that to make the string on the bow. She also found a nice, flexible tree limb, and she carved that into a bow. Icefire noticed then that she had incredible carving and whittling skills, and thought maybe she could use those in the future. She found that in her pocket there was a large sack of gold coins, which she was glad she had. Icefire decided to get some rest, since she had a long day ahead of her. She fell asleep thinking about what she would do when she woke up, her main priority- revenge on that air elf. [/glow]
