Rose shook her head as the dog began to growl. She backed away from it slowly as it took a step forward. Should she run, she might have a chance. It was a little to late to decide that now. The dog ran toward her as she sprinted off away from the man with the snake. She turned into an alley, not one of the best places to go when your being chased by a dog though.
She turned around for a split second only to find that the dog was gone. It had been there just a second ago she could of sworn…
She had still been walking while looking for the dog of course not noticing the man that she had now just run into.
She stared at him for a moment looking up into his eyes as he brushed himself off. Had he been in this alley the whole time or was it just her imagination. She backed up from him slowly as he stared at her with his soft green eyes tilting his head slightly.
“Sorry about that. I didn’t see another way to get you away from them. The names Vincent and it’s a pleasure to finally meet you Rose.” he said running a hand through his thick black tresses.
She just stared at him bewildered. How did he know her name? She was sure she had never talked to him before.
“ I’m sorry but have we met before?” she asked raising a brow.
“Actually we have, we’ve met almost everyday right on this street around… noon-ish. I did rather like being scratched behind the ear.” he said throwing her his jacket. “Bundle up…it’s going to get chilly.” he said rolling down his starch white sleeves.
“Wait a second…your not trying to tell me that you were just a dog were you?” she said throwing on the jacket
“Ding, ding, ding… that’s correct. Now let’s tell the lady what she’s won.” he said pretending to hold a microphone.
“Oh that’s a laugh…now look I’ve got to be going so…” she said turning around to leave. There it was the black dog again sitting in front of her thumping it’s tail.
She looked back into the alley the man was gone. She shook her head and took off down the street again, the black dog following close behind her.
