Alright everyone. I know I sound like a broken record by now, but I think it's pretty obvious that things are far from ideal here. And yes, I'm being very light in saying that.
I love this site and its members, and I wouldn't want to just sever it entirely. But I also don't want to have the site perpetually seeking, and failing, a goal. It's time to once again reevaluate what everyone wants, I think. Three possibilities come to my mind right away.
Firstly, we could bring out the old defibrillators and try to get this place running again. Frankly, I don't think this will happen, but I'm willing to put in effort if everyone else will as well. I'd be satisfied if each member posted once a week - at least we'd have a moving roleplay, if one that moved at a leisurely pace.
Secondly and perhaps more reasonably, we could reduce the site. Make it a chatbox and just a few boards, with one for all general chat and one for any random roleplays that people might be inclined to create. Tychras would basically become a chatting site or just a place to hang out - but maybe even that isn't possible with the current level of activity.
Then thirdly... there are lots of memories on this site, but the site itself isn't what matters to me. What matters to me are the people, and the interactions we've all shared. I am a member of one other roleplaying site, similar to Tychras: small (about 6 active members at the moment, but it just reopened so hopefully it will start growing), open to all types of roleplaying, writing, and chatting, and friendly. So if anyone is still interested in sticking together and trying to make a new start, we could head over there. The transition wouldn't be too rough; as the other site just reopened the roleplays are just starting up, so no one would be joining in the middle of anything. I have known the core members of the site for years, and I think the Tychras community would fit in well.
I'm open to whatever you all want. If you'd like to keep trying here, I will keep checking in - the more active people are, the more active I will be. If you'd like to give the other site a try, I'd be happy to see you join me over there. And if you're sick of Aura's attempts to keep us together and roleplaying, then I apologize. This may be the last one, if people no longer want the site to continue. But I think there are still ways we could start up again, even if it wasn't on Tychras itself.
Again, thanks everyone for sticking by the forums for so long. You're all awesome, and I'm glad to have had the chance to know you. =)
