Activity and Recruiting

I think a lot of our activity problems have to do with our number of members. Not that we're super tiny, but we're like a little ring of friends on this vast internet, and I'm sure we all know someone somewhere else on the web that likes to role play, or likes to write and is willing to try role playing.

My suggestion?

Go poke around on RP forums on the different games we play(I know pet sites are popular here xD) and start talking to people.

This has almost turned into a general RP site, and I'm sure with a few more people around, all our RP interest will be met, and we do have the potential to grow(not huge, just bigger. I don't like huge RP forums.. they get confusing.. in fact after a certain amount of members, I'd personally make this a closed RP forum, only opening to registration again if we lose a few people. *antisocial Phan*)

Sooo, I'm just curious what everyone else's opinion on this. Would you be willing to help out? (Does Aura WANT more members? xD *impatient to wait*)

I also have a few ideas for some contests that could help us with things.

I don't really know many roleplayers (or good ones, at least. I'm sad to say that the majority of RPers on Mistic aren't quite what I'd hope for on Tychras) and I'm terrible at recruiting.

But if you guys have some friends/acquaintances, knock yourselves out. >> I agree with Phan in that I don't like huge RP sites, but it would be nice to have a few more people here. You know, so maybe we could have at least a couple RPs that actually happen?

Alright then, I'll throw some of my ideas out here then.

A banner contest would help with out recruiting efforts. =D
I know we aren't all amazing artists, but anybody can make a nifty little banner.

We can affiliate ourselves with other RP sites. That's where a banner would come into play yet again. =)

Also, I know we're all on websites all over the place with RP sections. You don't need to know someone, but scan the boards and suggest a one on one with someone that looks like they fit in. Sort of a secret interview? lol
Then you can ask if they want to come here. =D

There's a game I've recently joined(several months ago), called Impressive Title. The game is down right now, so everyone is using the forums for role playing, and most of them appear to be very skilled, though most of their RPs are focused around lions and similar animals. =P

Anywho, I'm thinking this may be a challenge for us, but we've survived this long, haven't we? ^^

Like roleplaying?
Are you semi-lit+?
Do you like to roleplay many different things?
Are you talented in the art of roleplaying different topics/genres/whatever they're called

No illiterate people, please. >> If they can't contribute at least a reasonable paragraph in each response, I'd rather they stick to other forums until they warm up their roleplaying. It doesn't matter to me whether they roleplay only one genre or a limitless number; as long as they'll contribute to the roleplays they do choose to participate in.

Perhaps we could require approval to join the forum, and have people interested in joining submit an example of their roleplaying (either in response to a prompt we would provide, or a piece of their choice) before they would be accepted. I don't like closing the forum off so much, but if we get flooded with people writing five words for every response it will drive me up a wall.

yes, aura, I agree. ^^. I wouldn't want illiterate people either...>.< but there are some really good rpers in the Dragcave forums, I could make a banner...I'd just have to figure out how to animate it...o_______o

Just find a picture..... I have an idea. Someone come up with some cool lineart, and everyone will decorate it into a pretty banner! ^__^
*actually already has something she was working on, but she works slow and procrastinates, then never finishes*

None of my friends, except for Riven and a couple others, are really good enough writers that I'd be willing to bring them here. One of them started writing because I was writing all the time and they thought it was cool, now everyone else writes, but they all suck at it. :x

JUST LIKE HOW SHE STOLE MY IDEA!! Freshman year! I was always drawing lines down my fingers from the center down my hand, then she started doing it, now they all do it.

eets fine, and GIR, they can begin with maybe just being in the Art section! Then we can slowly drag them into the writing ness yumminess XD and that sounds good! you can always take a picture of it and maybe outline it on a computer program to clean it up, Phan

It's a very good idea to pull the prospective member aside, and roleplay with them through private messages or a 1on1 thread like someone above said. That way if they are good you can then invite them, but if not, then you dont even have to mention it.

Well, Gaia Online happens to be a decent place to find roleplayers, as well as Neoseeker.com Both of them have a range of roleplayers ranging from "i r awsum" to ...well Awesome.

And would should use proper grammar at least. Punctaution I would mind as much, as long as they keep their writings straight and clean.
