As much as rules are loathed, they are needed. I will try to have few rules, and hopefully I will not need to add more.
1. Stay in character, or use some sort of OOC while in the RP forum
I don't mind what OOC you use, as long as we can tell it is OOC. This is necessary to keep the boards from getting too cluttered or too confusing. Remember, there is always the general board to post your thoughts!
2. Be respectful to others and their characters
This goes without saying, but I'm saying it nonetheless. Do not insult other people, or their characters. Your character may not like someone else's character, but that does not mean you don't like the person, or that you may insult them in OOC.
3. No GM or PP
Again, it should go without saying. GM ('god moding', playing your character essentially as super-powerful or invincible) is never accepted, and should be edited out as soon as possible if accidental. PP (Power-playing, controlling another person's character and dictating their actions) may have to be used, but only to an extent: this means only if it is absolutely necessary, or if you have the other person's consent. This will not come up often, so if you aren't sure whether you can PP in a given situation, just don't.
4. Put some effort into your posts please
No, you don't have to have many paragraphs in each post. No, you don't have to use fancy language or anything like that. But I'd be eternally grateful if you did not use chat-speak (very common ones are fine, but as few as possible please!), and tried to write a good amount in each RP post. I understand writer's block, and a one-liner every now and then is fine with me. However, a one-liner in every post is not.
5. Violence and Swearing
Swearing - Well, most swearing is changed by the language watcher anyway. As this is mostly a fantasy site, I see no need for swearing. Remember this is not a place for swearing, it is a place to have fun and expand on a story created by you and the other characters. Therefore, in the normal boards, please keep swearing to a minimum. In the mature board, this last category doesn't really apply, so..
Violence - Well, battles will be fought, characters will be wounded, and if the player decides, they may even die. This does not mean you need to do a huge gory post about the wounds. A quick description is enough, thank you very much.

There, five rules to be followed. Remember, this is a site for everyone, and thus is should be suitable for everyone.
